Wow!! Business is booming and I couldn’t be more thrilled or blessed. Here’s just some of what we’ve done the last 4 months. Thank you for your support and trust in providing your special occasion treats! I appreciate each of you!! #LikealotCakes #cakerlife #jesslife #blessed
It’s been a while since I posted here (frequent updates are on my Facebook page). I loved this Harry Potter cake I did last weekend. (From Facebook post 3/24/18)
Loved making this Harry Potter cake for a bridal shower. The details were super fun to do. And although you can’t really tell, this cake was big and heavy! Red velvet cake with gold vanilla buttercream (House of Griffindor), covered in fondant with fondant and candy accents. Dobby was provided by the client and was the only non-edible part of the cake. #LikealotCakes #cakerlife #jesslife #HarryPotter #harrypottercake
I love showcasing the creations I get to make for my clients. But it’s even better when I can showcase what I’ve done for my own kids! I threw her a ballerina and Orioles birthday party over the weekend. What a hit! #LikealotCakes #cakerlife #jesslife #IsabellaBallerina #balletlife #Orioles #webleedorangeandblack #LetsGoOs
It’s been a while since I posted on the site. I very regularly post and update my Facebook page (check it out!) but not so much here. So here goes.
Tuesday thoughts. Sometimes you need to take a step back and actually ponder and appreciate your progress in your journey. One thing I can say for sure is that although life throws all kinds of challenges, it is amazing to see how unbelievably blessed I am with how my business has taken off. I officially ‘launched’ this business in January of 2016 after making cakes here and there for friends and for my kids. In that time, I’ve gone from just word-of-mouth recommendations to actually advertising. I’ve gone from a few ‘likes’ by friends on my posts, to an average of 500 to 1100 likes per post and 231 ‘followers’. A fellow entrepreneur and friend posted to his Facebook page the other day to use social media for what it was created for, connecting people. And I’ve really tried to step my game up in that arena. Likealot Cakes is not only on Facebook and Twitter, but we now have a Pinterest page, and have finally joined the world of Instagram (right?!? I know it took forever for me to cave). I’ve also seemed to find a nitch in ‘mom world’. After all, I’m a mom. I have mom friends. Moms plan their kids, and their family’s, parties. Parties need cake. You get where I’m going. Through joining mom swap pages and mom groups online, that existing clients of mine are part of, I’ve blown open the door to opportunities for this small business of mine. Repeat customers now refer new (soon to become) repeat customers. And I couldn’t be more blessed and excited in where this journey is going. Don’t get me wrong, I still have LOTS to learn and a long way to go before I can make this my only career, but to appreciate and acknowledge where I am and how far I’ve already come, is a huge boost in confidence. I truly believe God blesses each of us with gifts and talents and for me, He blessed me with this gift to bake, cake, and create, so I’m lucky to be able to share that with others. If you’ve in any way been part of my journey, whether through verbal or spiritual support, or have actually ordered sweet treats from me, I thank you. You mean the world to me. Now, to keep on caking; there’s orders to be filled.
Well wouldn’t you know, 4 months FLIES by. Can’t believe it’s been since February that I’ve posted an update. For steadier updates, be sure to check out and follow my Facebook page, Likealot Cakes & Parties.
Business has really been booming. I have loved working with repeat customers and have been blessed with many new ones!! Word of mouth and recommendations are a HUGE compliment and continues to allow me the ability to make sweet creations matching the vision my clients.
Thank you to my best clients that have spread the word and shared my business with your friends and family. Thank you to my new clients, who have entrusted me to make your creations. I’m blessed to use this gift God has given me to bring joy to so many.
I look forward to working with so many of you in the future. Be blessed 🙏🏻
Wow. 817 ‘reaches’. When monitoring the success of a post highlighting a cake order, I find that what reaches the most people on Facebook-land directly reflects how I ‘do my job’. Meaning, is my talent and hard work that I pour into each order ‘worth it’. I think it’s pretty safe to say that this was probably my most popular cake, if basing solely on ‘reaches’. I absolutely loved this simple, rustic cake and apparently so did my followers and their followers and so on. So to that I say, thank you. It’s a blessing to know that what I’m gifted with, that makes me happy, also makes you happy. Keep spreading the love, and the word, about #LikealotCakes
On Monday, my oldest child turned 7. Which boggles my mind that I’ve been a mom for 7 years. My spunky, energetic, Lego-loving son insisted on a Lego-themed cake for us to celebrate with (and matching cupcakes to take into school for celebrating with his class). So here it is, his vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream, and chocolate Lego pieces creation. He loved it! And biased as I may be, it was indeed delicious! 😋 #LikealotCakes
I had the pleasure of making an Art Deco theme cake for my sister-in-law’s ‘Goodbye Roaring 20s’ 30th birthday party. What a fun cake to make!! She chose a vanilla 2 tier cake with chocolate buttercream and white chocolate frosting. For decorations, she chose a Deco fondant flower and accents, as well as feathers. #LikealotCakes
This month has been my busiest so far, and that’s great. One week I had 6 orders go out. That is nothing short of a blessing. When we are given gifts from God, it is His will to share those gifts with others. I truly believe that I am using my gifts to fulfill a joy in others; by celebrating their special occasions with delicious treats. Subsequently, the busyness of the business becomes my creative outlet and stress reliever. I truly give God all the glory in taking this little home venture of mine to great heights and opening the doors for in bigger blessings to come. #LikealotCakes
Here are some of November’s creations:
